TWYLA

It has been a week, and I cannot stand it anymore. I decide that it is a now-or-never thing; either I will be with Elliot with full authority. I leave the twins with Elliot and storm to my family's house.

Elliot doesn't know that I am going there for this because all I want is to get it clear with my father as to what he is up to.

I know he is going to be in his office at home right now, and I directly go there without even waiting for a single moment. My anger and frustration are high as fuck, and I cannot with the idea of tolerating anyone's behaviors anymore.

Throwing the doors of my father's office, my face flushed with anger and determination. I slam the doors open, and my father starts to startle and quickly puts on hold the call he is on and orders me to go out, but I stand there stubbornly; he ends the business call he is on.

Dad is taken aback by my sudden entrance and fiery demeanor. He tries to regain his composure to talk to me, but his voice is at the top of his lungs, especially after getting flashbacks of what happened earlier this week.

"Twyla! What is the meaning of this? Are you in your senses? I was on an important call!"

My frustration strikes, and I shout out loud, "You will let me marry Elliot, Father! I cannot take it anymore!"

Dad, still recovering from the interruption, furrows his brows and sets his gaze firmly upon me. I am so sure that he is thinking about all that he told me before on the call and how I have not listened to him up until now.

But I cannot, I actually cannot help myself anymore from staying away from Elliot, and even if I am still with him, I want to know if my family is filing to be happy in my happiness or if we are just done and over it.

Dad is angry and stern, "Twyla, you are behaving awfully; I will not tolerate this ill-tempered behavior! You are acting recklessly and disrespectfully!"

"I've tried to be patient, Dad. I've tried to respect your wishes, but I love Elliot! I cannot deny my heart any longer. Please, just listen to me! You cannot make me suffer more; we need to be with each other now."

Dad clinches his fists; his frustration is evident. He takes a deep breath, attempting to calm himself before responding; gritting his teeth, he says, "Love? Do you think this is about love? Twyla, you are being naive! Elliot is not suitable for you. I have told you what the reason is, and you are surely aware of what consequences you will be born in the future. Get that in your head, please; love is not enough to live, respect is, and I want you to know that if you marry Elliot, you are going to lose both love and respect and somehow both him and your family, too.
